History

RD Precision was founded in 1988 by partners, Richard Doyle and Ron Daly. Back then it was just 2 men and a 1,500sq ft unit in the Northwest of England. Now with facilities in Wales, England, Poland and the USA, RD Precision is multi-national and proudly employs over 300 people, most of which are qualified engineers. Within one year of trading RD Precision had become successful enough to move to a purpose built facility in Queensferry, North Wales. This facility is just one mile from the Airbus site at Broughton, and though there have been many expansions to the RD Group, Queensferry has remained RD Precision’s head office ever since.

Vision

Ron and Richard were aware of a potential niche in the aerospace industry for a rapid response company, committed to the manufacture of aircraft parts. Gaining aircraft approval in 1989 RD Precision filled that niche and is now regarded as the number one 'Speed Shop' in the United Kingdom. The parts manufactured at our “Speed Shop” are turned around much more quickly than has ever been achieved before, at the same time we maintain the highest quality standards and integrity of the components.

Approvals and Contracts

RD Precision boasts quality approvals that include AS, ISO 9002, EASA, Airbus, BAe Systems, Raytheon and GKN. We manufacture steady state work for the entire Airbus fleet and have contracts with companies such as Hawker Beechcraft, Stork Fokker and  BAe systems. We support the production requirements of many of our customers and long term contracts now make up over 50% of our business.

Expansions and Acquisitions

In 1993 RD Precision acquired Marcus Engineering and incorporated the company into the site at Queensferry.

2004 saw RD Precision USA open, enabling us to develop and better support relationships with our customers in the US and Canada.

2004 also saw the RD Group acquire Patrick Engineering on the Isle of Wight. This facility boasts a highly skilled workforce and state of the art technology which fitted in perfectly with our existing operation.

In 2005 we launched of our European operation in Meilic, Poland. This facility has enabled us to offer our customers a low cost production alternative and is currently experiencing rapid growth.
